Asphalt Paving, Repaving & Rehabilitation
Machine-laid asphalt compacted with heavy rollers for roads, yards and car parks, specialising in the reinstatement of utility cuts and patching to current specifications.

We pave and rehabilitate roads, yards and commercial and industrial car parks to Ministry of Transport and municipal specifications. Our specialised crews, modern pavers and rollers deliver a uniform asphalt surface, free of ripples, with high durability and resistance to heavy traffic loads.
What is included
- Preparing, levelling and compacting the aggregate base course, and setting levels and falls.
- Saw-cutting the edges of existing asphalt vertically, in straight lines, to prevent joint cracking at tie-ins.
- Cleaning the surface with compressed air and spraying prime coat (MC-1) or tack coat (RC-2).
- Supplying hot-mix asphalt from approved plants and discharging it straight into the paver at the specified temperatures.
- Laying asphalt with a mechanical paver for a uniform thickness and an even surface without ripples.
- Breakdown rolling with vibratory steel rollers followed by pneumatic-tyred rollers to reach the design density and a fully sealed surface.
- Reinstating trench cuts and tying them in smoothly with the existing asphalt.
- Marking roads and car parks with reflective thermoplastic paint, and installing kerbs and cat's eyes.
How we do it
- 1Checking that the base is level, dry and clean, and that its density tests are approved, before spraying.
- 2Measuring the mix temperature when the trucks arrive and before discharge into the paver, to meet Ministry of Transport requirements (135–165 °C).
- 3Scheduling asphalt trucks for continuous paving that prevents cold joints.
- 4Rolling directly behind the paver with the specified number of passes, and taking core samples when the consultant requests them to check thickness and compaction.
- 5Letting the surface cool and checking it is free of defects before reopening the lane to traffic.
FAQ
Do you reinstate asphalt over trench cuts and utility crossings?+
Yes, this is one of our core specialisms. We saw-cut the edges of the cut, rebuild the layers, then lay and compact asphalt flush with the existing road so the surface stays smooth and even with no future settlement.
Are you set up for night paving on busy streets?+
Yes. Most of our work on main streets and traffic corridors is done at night to avoid peak traffic, with all traffic and municipal permits, safety equipment and lighting in place.
